Great little smoker

Purchased this on black friday. Quick delivery. It takes longer to heat up than I thought it would. Have smoked a couple of chickens on it. They were perfect. Thermometer is accurate. Easy to clean up.

Definitely recommend

Wanted to try this and see how the electric smoker compared to the Big Green Egg. Wasn't even close. The Cookshack made the best pulled pork I had ever tasted. 12 pound butt smoked for 16 hours and had tremendous bark and literally fell apart as I pulled it from the smoker. Highly recommend!!

Buy it!

I bought this unit about ten years ago and have not a bit of trouble (Extremely durable). This thing is built like a tank. Over the last 10 years I have purchased several smokers (BGE, WEBER SMOKER, REC TEC PELLET GRILL) trying to top this unit for flavor. I haven't found one yet. I smoked a brisket last weekend that came out perfect. A week after I bought it my brother in law bought one - he couldn't stand that smoked meat from this unit had a better flavor than his Side mount wood smoker with half the work

Awesome smoker. A little pricey, hopefully worth it

I bought this smoker after doing a ton of research. At the end of the day it was between this one and the Smokin-it Chinese version. Over all I like the unit very much. It is too soon to tell if it will hold up, but I have every belief that it will. I was a little surprised by a few things. 1. The door does not seal 100%. I'm ok with this as my last unit had a rubber gasket that really smelled like chemicals. 2. The door lock on the top latch is useless and EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING you could easily damage your unit if your not paying attention to this "feature" 3. There should be an integrated grease tray. 4. I would like to see a bigger vent/dampener for more options. 5. For this price the electronics should have more features.

The Skinny:

  • Stainless steel, double-walled construction for superior insulation
  • Smokes large amounts of food at once
  • Reaches temperatures as low as 140 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Proudly made in the USA

Things We Love:

The key to good smoked BBQ is maintaining temperatures throughout your cook. That’s why Cookshack smokers are built with durable stainless steel and superior insulation that keeps internal temperatures consistent while the exterior remains cool to the touch. Cookshack has produced quality, American-made smokers for more than 50 years, and its collection now includes four different models that come with five pounds of hickory wood and a “Smoking at Home” cookbook. It’s everything you need to start smoking right away!

Spacious Cooking Area:

No matter which Cookshack electric smoker you choose, you’ll be able to confidently cook for a crowd. The AmeriQue smoker, the biggest among them, is capable of holding up to 50 pounds of food across its four included racks and 1,008 square inches of cooking area. The Cookshack SuperSmoker has one fewer rack but boasts a 756-square inch cooking surface and can accommodate 35 pounds of food. If you don’t need that much cooking space, try the Smokette Elite or Smokette Original, which are still big enough to fit up to 25 pounds of food.

Convenient Controls:

Smoking can be a precise process, so Cookshack equipped most of its smokers with tools to make it easy. The Amerique, SuperSmoker and Smokette Elite each have a digital controller and meat probe so you can monitor internal food temperature, create timers, and set heat levels. These three smokers have a temperature range between 140–300 degrees to give you cooking versatility. The Smokette Original, meanwhile, has an analog thermometer and can reach temperatures between 140–250 degrees, perfect for low-and-slow smoking.

Things to Consider:

If the latest technology is important to you, keep in mind that these units are not compatible with Wi-Fi like some of the pricier smokers on the market today. For more help deciding if a Cookshack smoker is right for you, call one of our BBQ experts at 1-877-743-2269 today!

Question:
What kind of outlet and breaker are needed? Owner of cook shack model 66 18 years old, just started popping ground faults. Thinking of buying another but want to make sure our soon to be new house has the power neede.
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
HI Bob. Cookshack smokers require a 120-volt, 15-amp circuits. You may want to have an electrician check the ground fault receptacle. Unfortunately, they don't last forever, and become more sensitive to variances in line voltage.

Question:
How well does it maintain the temperature when it's really cold outside? I like to smoke Thanksgiving turkey in Colorado and it could be well below freezing here.

Answer:
Hi Ted - I would say it is OK, providing you shield the unit from wind. Typically, I use my Traeger when it's cold in NE. I have an older model and the outside temp has very little affect on the cooking temp. I bought a newer version, but have only had it during the summer. It seems to be as well insulated as the older model. Hope this helps. T. Question:
In my current smoker, I hang sausage to smoke and am looking for a distance of at least 18" from the top rack to the heating element (links are about 14-16" long) so I am looking for a few inches of space from the bottom of the sausage to the heating element. 1. What are the inside dimensions of the smoker - i.e. the smokebox itself (that is the Cookshack Supersmoker holding 35lb)? 2. More specifically, what is the distance from the top rack to the top of the wood box? Thank You
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Joe! The outside height of the box itself is about 24 inches so you will not have 18 inches of hanging room from the top shelf. The maximum cooking capacity of the SM045 is 40 pounds of heavy cuts of meat or 24 pounds of ribs. The cooking shelves are 14 by 18 inches. Hope this helps.

Question:
I have 3 questions: is there a drip pan? What about a water pan for keeping the meat moist? Do you add wood from the back or the side?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Rick - 1) This does include an aluminum drip pan. 2) A water pan is not included. 3) You add the wood from the front, by sliding the wood box into the slot at the bottom of the open unit.

Question:
Can you smoke briscuits on this smoker and get the bark on the outside when finished smoking?

Answer:
Hi, Garth. You absolutely can smoke briskets and get a nice bark on the outside with a Cookshack smoker.

Question:
How often do I have to add wood chips during the smoking process?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Rob. The amount of wood can vary depending on your personal taste. The manufacturer recommended 2 ounces of wood when cooking up to 60 lbs of meat. Adding too much wood, or adding more during the cook can cause food to taste bitter.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
