    1 size burner for several size grills not good

    Great searing burner but way too small for grills bigger than 36". I have 42" artisan and this thing is small and wastes a lot of usable space. Don't buy for 42" or larger. 36 may be even too big for this.

    Hi Craig. Because of the way infrared burners work, we would suggest using the Artisan conventional burner for a griddle or cookware.

    I heated a cast iron skillet and it got super hot.  Turn the burner down if the CI gets too hot. Love it for finishing steaks.

    How does the infrared sear burner actually install in place of the standard u shaped burner? Are tools required? How long should it take to change out?

    Hi, Bob, and thanks for writing in. I've got the instructions for swapping the burners linked below but the short answer is that it's pretty quick. Burners are held in place by gravity and there's only one screw to remove/replace: the one that holds the ignitor electrode in place. Please note the advisory not to place the ceramic briquette tray over the sear burner.     It's been two years since I installed this and it works great. As I recall, it's simply drops in in place of the old burner. I don't remember any tools required, but there may have been a screwdriver or crescent wrench.

    Bob, It is pretty easy; just twist pull out. You may need to re-position the igniter, which may need a Philips screw driver. Not sure if it came with one designed for use with the infrared unit.     Can this item (Artisan Infrared Sear Burner) be used in conjunction with the standard U-shaped burners? (I.e. does it require removal of 1 or 2 of the 3 U-burners on a 36" grill, or does it require the removal of all 3 U-shaped burners on a 36" grill)?

    Hi Juanton, the Artisan Infrared Sear Burner will replace just one of the U-shaped burners.

    Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight.
