BEST SEAR EVER

I purchased the sear burner in 2017 with my Blaze 4 burner grill. After 7 years of heavy use it still performs like day one! I'm a rare steak guy so all I do is brush on some clarified unsalted butter to my favorite cut of beef and let it roll. 30 seconds then rotate 90 degrees for another 30 seconds flip and repeat is always dead on for my taste. Enjoy!

Absolutely Great

I got this as a requested Christmas gift. Easy to install. The bone-in ribeye I cooked was the best steak I've ever cooked on a grill. Perfection. Better than restaurants. If you like steak on the grill you need this. Beautifully charred on the outside and perfect on the inside.

Just buy it already.

Have a Blaze grill for a year then added this to the grill. So much better and a great upgrade. Not the same heat as my egg but very close and so easy to use.

Question:
Does the lid of your grill need to be open when using to prevent any warping or damage?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Mark. Yes, when using the Blaze Infrared Burner, the lid of the grill should remain open.

Question:
I am trying to troubleshoot a potential issue with the BLZ-IRN burner. I have a brand new grill - it arrived yesterday, and I installed the infrared burner per instructions, then tested that everything was working, and seasoned the cooking grid, also per instructions. No problems. Today I cooked on it for the first time - two steaks, seasoned only with avocado oil and salt. The IR burner initially worked fine, and it was easy to see the ceramic tiles glowing orange prior to commencing cooking, About 3-4 minutes into cooking the steak, however, the IR burner started making a loud rumbling noise (like a tractor going by) and the ceramic tiles stopped glowing. If I turned the burner off and restarted 1-2 minutes later, it glowed again, but the problem recurred. This happened 2-3 times. I took a video (that also has sound) that I can share with you. Are you aware of similar issues? Is there a way to resolve this, or is it a defect with the IR burner.

Question:
My infrared burner starts out quiet, but after a while makes a loud whooshing sound, especially once I flip my steak
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
When you first start cooking your steak over the infrared burner, the juices from the steak start coming to the top. When you flip it, the juices fall, land on the burner and whoosh! Mine does that. It's like throwing water on a hot skillet. It's normal.

My IR burner does the same thing. I also find that it happens in windy conditions SC

Question:
Is there a way to clean fat grease dripped on the back of the burner from searing a steak or two?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Louis, thanks for asking. If you haven't found something that reach behind the burner while it is installed, you may have to remove it to properly clean it. If you have any other questions please message us on Live Chat or call 877-743-2269 and we'll be happy to help.

Question:
Has Blaze done anything to address the many complaints I have read here, elsewhere and from dealers of this product saying it rusts out in less than 2 years. I want one of your grills but searing is very important to me. If I know I can't get a searing burner that wont last I will probably not buy the grill, which would be unfortunate, as I really like it otherwise.
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Mario! There have not been any recent updates made to the searing burner. However, many times when there is a report of rusting there is also evidence of a lack of maintenance. It is recommended to perform a burn-off after each use and to keep the burner as clean as possible. If the burner is not going to be used for an extended period of time, it is recommended that it be removed and stored. Finally, if the cage-like panel that covers the ceramic does wear away, it is not essential to the burner performance and the burner will continue to function normally. Hope this helps!

Question:
My seat station often pops the flame after a couple minutes makes a loud whooshing sound. At this point I have to trim it off and restart. Is there a fix for this problem?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Jeff! The first thing we suggest is to check if the valve assembly is clean and does not have any debris blocking the gas flow. If the issue persists, please contact us through our Live Chat or give us a call at 877-743-2269 and we'll be happy to help further!

Question:
Are you still able to use the warming rack with the searing burner or will it warp the warming rack like the rear infrared burner?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Matt, you can still use the warming rack with the searing burner equipped. You'll most likely want to avoid placing food on the rack directly above the searing burner while it's in use, but the rack should not warp and you can still utilize the rest of the rack for indirect cooking as usual.

Question:
Can you use this with the pizza stone. Or is the standard burner better?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Great question! A standard burner would be better for grilling with a pizza stone. The high heat of the infrared burner and the heat retention of the pizza stone could very quickly burn your food and possibly damage the infrared burner.

Question:
Can you install more than 1 burner on the Blaze 5 burner?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Joey! It's suggested that you only use one searing burner on any Blaze grill.

Asked by JoeyMAnswered by Emily

Question:
I read one review of the Blaze searing burner. It says that the burner needs to be installed before you install your grill. I'm assuming this means if you buy the slide in version of the grill and not the one on a cart. Can you clarify this? I'm looking to be able to fairly easily install and remove the searing burner as my needs dictate. Is this possible or will I find that I'll need to keep the searing burner in place once I've installed it because of the difficulty of installing/removing it on my slide in grill.
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi, Carl. We recommend installing the sear burner at the same time as removing all of the cotter pins in all of the burners on a built in model. Those are there to make sure the burners stay in place while shipping, so there's no need to reinsert them after the grill has been installed. Removing and installing shouldn't be too difficult, but here's a guide for installation: www.youtube.com/watch

If it helps here is a video that shows how to install the sear burner. www.youtube.com/watch

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
