Works great. Bromic Tungsten Smart-Heat series electric infrared patio heaters use infrared light to efficiently heat outdoor spaces. It works just as the sun warms our planet — infrared waves move through the air until they contact people or objects, which they then heat no matter the outdoor conditions. Contrast this method with that of a traditional heater that simply heats nearby air.

Thanks to this technology, Bromic Smart-Heat electric models convert almost all of their energy toward heating. Wind and other weather conditions will only slightly affect infrared heat, whereas a gust of wind can easily blow away hot air created by a traditional heater. Do these units require polarity or is a standard 12-2 wire sufficient? I assume they don't since there are no moving parts.

Hi Robert. This Bromic heater should be wired by a licensed electrician who will know the correct wiring. It will require a dedicated 20 amp, 240 volt circuit

Does this have to be installed under cover, or can it be installed in an area that will encounter rain (we are in Phoenix, so no snow/similar)? I want to install on a slatted arbor, so it would not have cover overhead. Thx in advance.

We put it under our screen porch roof and love it. I was told ours is also weatherproof. It only sees moisture from fog and dew. What a difference it make on the 30 and 40 degree days. I tell our friends and family to come sit on the back porch and they think I'm crazy. Then they are amazed. Also we put ours on a one hour timer so we can walk away and it goes off if we forget. Can this unit be ceiling mounted in a 4 season room? It is fully enclosed during the winter. Would a vent be recommended?

Hello Tony! This heater requires natural ventilation at all times. For an enclosure with four walls, you would need at least one permanent opening at ground level where any gas leakage could be rapidly dispersed by wind or natural convection.

No you can't ceiling mount this one. It's directional so the heating components are on the bottom and the heat and flames have to come out the top. I returned these and got some other ones. The DCS 50k BTU model. Charles L. Hoops

Hello Jim! Bromic recommends a minimum height of 8-feet from combustible materials below the heater for this model and the 43,000 BTU model. They also recommend a 3-foot minimum away from combustible materials above and to the sides of these heaters.
