Have one and buying another one

We purchased this pizza oven almost two years ago. Use it every week without any issues. Easy producing pizzas to perfection that we do not go out to eat for pizza anymore. Now buying another one for our vacation retirement home as do not think we can live without it. Love it.

Love homemade pizza!

I am like many people that started making pizza in our home oven where you try to get the oven as hot as possible (ours would get to 550). This one will get to 500 but you do NOT want it that hot as it will burn the bottom of the pizza. Follow the directions, turn but both burners on MAX for 15 minutes. At that point turn the bottom burner down just above MIN, but leave the flame in the back 1/4 below MAX. Put your pizza in and watch it and once the section by the flame turns brown the way you like it, rotate it 1/4 and do the same until it is browned on all four sections. Also I use a pizza screen under the pizza and after my first two failures (trying to get it too hot), it works GREAT! The proof is in the pictures, ENJOY!

Disappointed with temperature

Aflresco claims this oven can get to 900 degrees, but I've never been able to get it above 550 and that is with keeping the bottom element on full blast which makes it unusable for pizza (burns the bottom before the top is close to done). Also, the back burner (log) stopped working after 3 years so it is now useless. Controls are impossible to see (poor design). It looks great in my outdoor kitchen, just wished it worked.

Terrible product - don't purchase

This pizza oven will barely reach 400 degrees even after an hour of pre-heating. And don't use the bottom burner under the pizza stone because the pizza bottom will burn in literally 2 minutes while the pizza top has not even begun to melt the cheese. I called the service line and was told I didn't know how to use it. if you don't use the bottom burner to pre-heat the oven it will barely even reach 300 degrees. Plus for even a relatively small pizza you have to constantly turn it because the edge of the pizza near the back burner will burn long before the pizza is done.

Recurring problem and not hot enough

I've had to replace a fragile starter filament twice. When it gets too hot and cools a few times, the fragile grid that surrounds it, cracks. Once cracks, it will not fire up and you cannot light it with a fireplace lighter. Gas is turned off as a safety issue. Even when working, the top does not get hot enough. We find our regular oven does a much better job than this pizza oven. Top of pizza will not cook. Only the log in the back will cook a few inches of the top and you can spin the pizza three times, but it takes 20 minutes to cook a pizza. Oven will hold two at a time, but you are not going to have a group pizza party. If the oven actually got to 900 (400 - 450 is more accurate), it might cook a pizza in a few minutes.

The Skinny:

  • Multiple cooking options allow you to make different foods
  • Powerful infrared burner heats up in only four minutes
  • No curing process required

Things We Love:

Superior Versatility Lets You Cook More Than Pizza

Pizza is probably the first dish you’ll want to prepare in your pizza oven, but at some point, your culinary curiosity may begin to take hold. Fortunately, Alfresco pizza ovens let you roast, sear, and bake in addition to making high-quality pizzas! These ovens come with a stainless steel wood and herb box that can also be used as a water pan for steaming, giving you even more cooking options. The versatility of these models is about more than just what they can cook — they’re available in natural gas or propane fuel types, and you can choose between countertop, built-in, or freestanding configurations.

Quickly Spreads Radiant Heat and Cooks in Minutes

Using a pizza oven and can be a long and drawn-out process, but not with Alfresco! Thanks to their rear infrared burners packing 40,000 BTUs of cooking power, these ovens reach optimal temperatures in just 15 minutes and can cook a pizza in less than five. The hearth burner heats gas logs like a fireplace, which helps the oven retain and distribute heat from the top down, while the tube-log burner provides heat where you need it most. Even more impressive than these ovens’ ability to hit 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit is that they don’t need to go through the time-consuming curing process before first use.

Exceptional Construction and Features

Premium pizza ovens such as the ones made by Alfresco are designed to give you an outstanding cooking experience that you can return to for years on end. Inside their 304 stainless steel exteriors are thick, high-quality ceramic hearths and ceilings that trap radiant heat for quick cook times and delicious flavor. These American-made pizza ovens offer 456 square inches of cooking space, or enough for a 14-inch pizza, which you can easily keep an eye on thanks to their internal halogen lights and glass oven doors. An Alfresco pizza oven will enhance your outdoor kitchen’s cooking power, especially as a complement to your Alfresco built-in grill!

Things To Consider:

The spacious 24-inch-by-19-inch cooking floor can fit only one pizza at a time, so these ovens aren’t ideal for large families or commercial jobs where multiple pizzas need to be cooked simultaneously. If you have any questions about how an Alfresco pizza oven can fit into your outdoor space, call one of our experts at 1-877-743-2269 today!

Question:
Hello, What is the difference in the built-in vs countertop models. I am specifically looking at the venting as ours will be in an enclosed lanai. I want to make sure venting is done properly. Please advise.

Answer:
Hi, Dennis. Alfresco states these pizza ovens need to be installed in an open, well-ventilated area. The difference with the built-in oven is that it must be built in to a non-combustible structure, and vents up, and can be vented through a roof. The countertop model vents directly through the back.

Question:
1. Do the doors have remain when the oven is in use? Same question if only the hearth burner is lit? 2. Does the exhaust need to be vented to the roof of my screened porch? I can't vent it to the back because of the screen walls. Thank you

Answer:
Hi Joe. The oven can be used with the doors open or closed. It is recommended to preheat the oven with the doors closed to reach temperature quicker though. The oven should not be used underneath any unprotected combustible construction. It is highly recommended to extend your flue through the roof with heat protected pipe if using under any kind of overhead covering.

Answer:
Hey Joe, The doors can be left open or closed at any time. I keep them closed to preheat the oven and when baking pizza. The oven doesn't lose much heat once preheated to 500 to 750 degrees so I pretty much leave them open to turn the pizza and bake the 5 mins or so until done. I bake several different things in the oven that require lower temps around 350 to 450 and turn the log on low as possible or even off once preheated and the hearth on low as well. I honestly open and close the doors in those cases to try and lower or maintain a certain temperature. When I'm cooking a beef stew or meatloaf for example, I'll leave the doors closed and only open them if it's cooking too fast. Baked oysters for example, I keep the doors closed the whole time. Vegetables, open doors the whole time. There is a learning curve for pizza oven baking. Oven temperatures vary in different locations within the oven so your constantly moving food around. The doors are just part of the regulating of temperature. My oven is part of an "outdoor kitchen" and vented up and to the open sky. Not sure about using inside a screen porch.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
