Proud Owner of the Napoleon Prestige Pro 500

Ordered from BBQ Guys and 4 days later grill arrived. First Step, find the directions and all the screws, sort and inventory them. Turns out I had spares, plus a few found in the box that don't go anywhere... at least from what I can tell. Assembled by myself with the help of my wife for the 3 person step. I have a 2 shelf utility cart that I used to move the parts from the garage to the deck. Unboxed everything and placed the items around the deck and started following the steps in the assembly book. No words, just pictures and arrows. I am 63 years old and grew up playing with Lego and can follow an image or diagram with no problems. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the hardest, I rank the assembly a 4. A 3/8" nut driver, 3/8" wrench, rubber mallet and Phillips screwdriver was all the tools I used. Found all the screws in the box with the wheels-Package N020-0213. Steps that I had to pause on - The wheels, I wasn't sure about taping the plastic block into the corner that the wheel goes into because there was a metal tap in the way for two of the corners. Just do it, its works fine. The chrome bars had some screws tightened really tight and other loose. Turns out the tightened screws worked better after I broke them free with the wrench, the loose screen won't screw in without force. I removed the bar and tighten all screws to about 3/8" gap then reinstalled and it worked fine. One last hiccup which is funny but caught me off guard, the lights would not turn on. I was looking for the battery but it turns out the lights require electricity. After reading so many reviews and researching I did not see any reviews or on-line videos show an extension cord. I though the plug on the grill was for the rotisserie. Plugged in, works great. Looks even better at night. Broke grill in cooking steaks. I know its new, but it's going to get dirty and need cleaning. But its new and shiny.

Excellent grill

I've had it about a month now and cooked all my usual staples. Perhaps one of the best things I love about it is the evenness of the cook. The temp is only slightly higher in the back than it is on the front so IM not constantly moving my meat around to even out the doneness. This is my third Napoleon grill...My first lasted reliably about 10-12 years. Both would have lasted longer but I grill out far more than the average guy. Im very pleased with all the features this one touted. No complains at all. BBQGuys was outstanding to work with and may be one of the easiest large purchases I've ever made online. For what it's worth, I've never left an online review before. That should say enough.

What an awesome grill

I am just beginning to explore all of the capabilities of this grill. I have cooked steaks chops and a rotisserie chicken so far. All came out incredible. The side sear burner is the first time on a gas grill I though a burner might actually put off too much heat! Wow, what a great sear. I love my steaks Pittsburgh style, and this burner can make that happen. I am going to do a turkey on it for Thanksgiving and am looking forward to that awesome rotisserie and burner to do as well on the turkey as it did no the chicken. Love my new grill and I am sure I will enjoy it for many years to come as I keep learning to use its capabilities. PS I thought all the lights on the Pro would be goofy, but I love them. Especially the lights in the grill body itself, those are awesome, and the light in the cabinet really helps find the stuff you store in there. The Napoleon light on the floor when you approach the grill is just too cool. You can turn it off, but it is fun.

Solid grill with style

We went grill searching for over a year and after looking at the specs, features and material we decided on the Napoleon Pro. It was easy to assemble, the components are all made well and the steel in the grill and the cart are excellent quality for the price point. The infrared and searing station were important to my husband while the look and lights in the knobs were necessary for me (I wanted it to look nice while it was in or out of use). The knobs turn red when that portion of the grill is turned on which I feel is helpful especially when you are trying to see what burners are on from a distance. We haven't used the rotisserie or grill basket just yet but I'm happy we purchased that along with the grill. The food cooks quickly and evenly. the ice bucket and bottle opener at the bottom is very smart use of the space and I appreciate their thoughtful design. For the price, quality, modern look and cooking ability, this is a great value and I am so happy we ended choosing this grill. BBQ guys delivery and customer service were on point too! It's our first online purchase through the site and I their customer support, online access and delivery was very seamless and easy.

Great Grill

The grill itself is great. Easy to use and I found it easy to clean. The interior grill lights work great and are very useful during winter grilling. I have found the temperature consistent at different positions on the grill. And I had the best steaks using the searing station. It is very hot and cooks a steak in just a couple minutes. I did suggest to Napoleon that they allow customization to the light that displays on the ground so we have other options than to advertise their brand. I will agree with the other reviews about the awful installation instructions. For future purchaser's, here are 4 areas to watch out for: Step 6 - This piece is supposed to just slide in but that works only if the slits in the frame are cut wide enough. I had to bend it just a little and it slid right in. Step 8 - When installing the wheels, you will encounter what appears to be a blockage on two of the holes. Don't worry, those pieces bend when you insert the wheels. Step 10 - Be sure to pull the wires to the sear station all the way out. It will prevent panic later. Step 12 - There are four wires but you only connect 3 of them. I suppose the extra wire is for something to be added later. I did not take points off as this is all about the grill. After all, I only plan to put it together once but plan to grill twice a week.

Great grill with some issues

Purchased through BBQ guys. Safely shipped and arrived very quickly. It was a project to assemble but once up and running it's clearly a superior product to anything from a big box store. Hind sight being 20/20 I should have purchased the extended warranty for parts and labor. At 10 months one of the light bezels would remain constantly on after the gas was turned off and the ignitor electrode for the sear station failed. Napoleon's customer service is phenomenal and they are supplying the necessary parts. However, we are having trouble fixing the light issue and it is taking a lot of time. For a grill at this price point, I did not anticipate having these issues so soon.

Very rugged with one exception

I'm very impressed with rugged design and features with one exception. The wheels on this grill are not suitable for anything other than a smooth, hard surface. I have a wood deck and with the inevitable cracks and knot holes and with the weight of this grill the wheels are simply not large enough. I consider this grill to be immovable on my deck. Very well packaged. Assembly was relatively easy. While instructions are sparse on some steps, on line videos on assembly help. Overall I'm very happy with purchase. Just wish it had functional wheels.

The Skinny:

  • Well-known brand name
  • Fully loaded with great features
  • Proudly made in North America
  • Great Warranty

Things We Love:

The Napoleon Prestige Pro is a feature packed gas grill with innovative accessories and integrated functionality. The Prestige Pro series comes with an infrared rear burner, rotisserie, and “sizzle zone” infrared burner. Freestanding Prestige Pro models also include an ice bucket with integrated cutting board. You can also add the optional charcoal tray for even more ways to cook. The grill comes with LED Spectrum Night Light control knobs with color customizable lights. The lights have a safety glow feature that make them glow red when a burner is in use. The Prestige Pro series also has interior grill lighting for night time grilling and lighting in the storage area under the grill. I also really like Napoleon’s doubled lined “lift-ease” lid, which opens easily and helps hold in heat for optimal heat retention. The lid is hinged near the middle and, when open, adds hardly any depth to the back of the grill. This allows for easy placement in a variety of spaces. The Pro 825 has two “sizzle zone” burners in the second grill area, and a two stage power burners on the side shelf.

One thing that really sets the Prestige Pro apart is its storage features. The Pro boasts soft close storage doors, built-in shelving in the cabinet, condiment racks, tool hooks, towel bars, and even a bottle opener with cap catcher.

Napoleon Prestige Pro grills have stainless steel tube burners that are lit by a "Jetfire" electronic ignition. The Pro series has stainless steel grates with a patented wave design that creates unique sear marks. To spread heat evenly, Napoleon has stainless steel sear plates. The plates also protect the burners and help reduce flare-ups.

The Prestige Pro grills are also available as built-in models, a perfect fit for any outdoor kitchen.

The warranty on the Prestige Pro series is a standout in its class, having a lifetime warranty on the exterior housing, cooking grids, and stainless steel cooking box. Napoleon also boasts a 10 year + 5 warranty on their burners and flame tamers that provides replacement parts at a 50% of normal cost for 5 years after the 10 year warranty expires.

Thing To Consider:

While this grill is built tough, and backed by a strong warranty, Napoleon Prestige Pro grills are not "all stainless steel", which is what many customers are shopping for nowadays. Along with the stainless steel components on the grill, you will also find cast aluminum and porcelain enameled steel components too, such as cart legs, back panels, etc.

Question:
Is there a natural gas to LP conversion available ? I would consider buying one IF a conversion kit were available and I were to move to a home without natural gas...

Answer:
Hi James. Unfortunately Napoleon does not support conversion of their grills. They do not manufacture conversion kits, and converting your grill would void its warranty.

This question was asked on a different product configuration.

Answer:
I was told "no". Any conversion on this grill must be done by a certified gas fitter AT a certified gas fitter's location. I bought the Prestige Pro 500 Natural gas model online because I was told I COULD NOT buy a propane and convert it myself.

Question:
Does the right hand side shelf fold down? If not, can the shelf kit from the prestige 500 be used to replace it. I'm asking because I have space constrants
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
It does not fold down.

Asked by CanoerAnswered by eryan36can

Answer:
The right hand shelf cannot be folded down. But it is easily removed and reinstalled if needed. This is possible because it is only a storage space with no wires or connected hardware.

Asked by CanoerAnswered by pjmartinez73

No the right side shelf does not fall down it has a storage area for ice or food debris. But does not need to be added to the BBQ. It is secured to the grill by two larger screws you can remove the screws and remove the entire right side shelf

Question:
Does this grill need to be plugged in to operate or just to turn in the lights?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Steve, the main burners on this grill can still be lit without being plugged in. An electrical power source is required for use of the lighting features, rear burner electronic ignition, and side burner electronic ignition. The rear and side burners can still be lit by match/lighter when no power source is available.

Will the stainless hood yellow and stain with use? Is the enamel hood suggested?

Hi Kevin! With regular cleaning and maintenance you should not have any issue with yellowing. An enamel hood would still need to be cleaning and enamel can also chip exposing the metal underneath to potential rust.

What's the difference between Pro500xxxxxSS1, SS2, and SS3?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Great question Owen! The change from the Napoleon PRO500-1 series to the PRO500-2 series was the introduction of the safety control knob being red when the burner is engaged; a safety feature that helps indicate at-a-glance if the burner is still on when it shouldn't be. The changes from the Napoleon PRO500-2 series to the PRO500-3 series is the introduction of the LED Color Spectrum lights and the Proximity lighting that displays the Napoleon logo on the ground in front of the grill; providing additional lighting to the grill for evening entertaining. If you have any questions, please give our Customer Service team a call at 877-743-2269. We would be happy to help you!

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
