Caz73 Troy, MI | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Best bbq ever!I received my wsm as a Father's Day gift a few years ago, and smoking the best bbq I've ever had is so satisfying. The smoke penetration low and slow cooking is really awesome! I added a blower controller a couple years ago, and it is great (especially for longer cook times). | Was This Helpful? |
RonnieRay Kansas | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Great smokerI bought this smoker 2 months ago. My first cook was baby backed ribs. They were perfect | Was This Helpful? |

Four-Twenty Eats&Treats South Texas | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 2nd Place BrisketWeber Smoky Mountain is a great smoker! It's easy to use and set up only requires a screw driver. I used WSM at a bbq competition and came home with a 2nd place brisket! The consistency of the temperature makes it almost impossible to ruin a cut of meat. | Was This Helpful? |
jjrome Ellington, CT | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Smokey Mountain Cooker Smoker 18"It is a good product however very difficult to use. The instructions do not give a good explanation on how to use the smoker. | Was This Helpful? |
Lil smoke California | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Great smoker for this smoking newbieThis is my first smoker as I dive into the wonderful world of smoking. So far I've been able to smoke ribs , chicken , sausages and veggies. All have come out absolutely amazing. I'm glad I got the mid sized one and am overall happy with it. My only feedback points are - they could've made the one door on it more secure as to not leak so much smoke . At the moment the door has a decent amount of smoke leakage as others have noted in their reviews too and it could've gotten a better seal around it. Also the charcoal/ash base could've had a better grate top with much smaller slots as to not allow larger charcoal bits to accidentally fall through. The fix was I had to buy a second grate to lay on top of the main in order to create smaller holes to keep my charcoal burning longer and not have it fall prematurely into the ash dump area. Lastly - I wish this came w one wheel to tip the unit back on so it can make for easy storage transport. Overall im happy w this and looking forward to my weekly smokes with it! | Was This Helpful? |

Jonny Bigarms NH | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Smoky MountainI started with a simple smoke, figured out temp regulation and by the third smoking, pork butt, I had it dialed in for an amazing meal. Love it and will continue to have fun this summer and years to come! Great size for the two of us and plenty of room for when we have guests. | Was This Helpful? |
Expert Review
Back to TopThe Skinny:
- Available in three sizes
- Separate cooking areas for versatility
- Can smoke a full-sized turkey
- Includes a protective cover
Things We Love:
Weber revolutionized the grill game in 1952 with the invention of the charcoal kettle, and it hasn’t stopped innovating since. The company eventually tried its hand at slow-cooking a thing or two, resulting in a line of smokers as sleek as they are effective. After years of refining, Weber now offers its Smokey Mountain Cookers in three distinct sizes that fit the BBQ habits of just about anyone. Whether you like to make your backyard smoking central or grill on the go, there’s a Weber Smokey Mountain model for you.
Different Size Options to Fit Your Needs:
Heavy-duty smokers should take a hard look at the 22-inch Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker, which offers 726 square inches of cooking area for when you host the family BBQ. You can trust the 18-inch model to handle standard workloads, while the 14-inch Smokey Mountain Cooker is small enough to come along for the ride on your next outdoor adventure. But that’s where the differences between these charcoal smokers end.
Exceptional Features from Weber:
No matter the size, each Weber Smokey Mountain unit can cook a full-sized turkey and comes with great features designed to enhance your smoking experience. They have two separate, steel-plated cooking grates that allow you to satisfy your guests by smoking multiple foods at once, along with a Weber water smoker to add moisture. Premium-grade, steel-coated porcelain enamel is used to build both the inside and outside of these vertical smokers, which receive added durability thanks to their rust-resistant aluminum fuel doors. Even with this sturdy construction, you should still take advantage of the included cover to shield your smoker from the elements.
Oh, and did we mention that Weber Smokey Mountain Cookers are easy to use? The fuel door lets you add charcoal without interrupting the cooking process, and temperature adjustment is simple with Weber’s airflow vents. Straightforward smoking, just the way we like it!
Things to Consider:
Though these Weber smokers get the job done when it comes to cooking meats, they don’t include all the bells and whistles typically found in the pricier smokers on the market today. You can, however, use Smokey Mountain Cookers like a traditional grill. Feel free to call our BBQ experts at 1-877-743-2269 if you have any more questions about Weber smokers!

Questions & Answers (4)
Back to TopQuestion: do you have to have the water bowl in when smoking Was This Helpful? Answer: Hello. It is recommended to always use the water pan. The smoker will still function without it, but you will be exposing your meat to direct heat. Asked by MyrnaAnswered by Joey, BBQGuys Expert Answer: The smoker will run warmer with no water. Asked by MyrnaAnswered by stevegarchow484 Answer: I use the water bowl with water as that is what is recommended by the
manufacturer. I know many people fill the bowl with sand rather than water.
It's my own thought that the water bowl's primary purpose is to diffuse the
heat. In that regard, I think you should always use the bowl. Asked by MyrnaAnswered by livingston Answer: I use the water bowl with water as that is what is recommended by the

Question: If i spatchcock my turkey, will it still fit in the 18 inch? Was This Helpful? Answer: Hello. It would depend on the size of the turkey. The cooking surface is 17.5 inches in diameter, so it would have to fit in that area. Asked by Just meAnswered by Joey |
Question: Willnthis 18 inch smoker be big enough for 2 racks of ribs? Was This Helpful? Answer: Hi, Jeff. Two full racks would be too long, but if you cut them into four half-racks, you'll be good to go! Asked by JeffAnswered by Seth |
Question: Can the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Smoker be used solely as a charcoal grill cooker satisfactorily? Was This Helpful? Answer: Great question, Norm! We don't recommend that because it's not designed to get to higher temperatures. Asked by NormAnswered by Emily |

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
